Disney's "best month to visit" depends entirely on what you value. Slide six priorities — heat, crowds, budget, school break, holiday events — and we'll rank all 12 months for your family.
Every month at Walt Disney World gets a score across five dimensions: average temperature, rainfall, crowd level, price tier, and school-break overlap. Your sliders weight those scores. The quiz then ranks all 12 months according to your priorities.
Here's the cheat-sheet our team uses:
A family with school-age kids who can't miss school has different optimal months than a retired couple. A heat-sensitive family in October beats them in August every time. A family chasing the Christmas magic accepts December's crowds and prices to get it.
The quiz exists because every "best time to go to Disney" article you'll read on the internet gives you their answer — not yours. Your priorities matter. Slide them.
Magic Kingdom welcomed an estimated 33 million visitors in 2024, making it the most-visited theme park on the planet. Which is why timing matters more than picking the right park.
Many of the things that seem impossible now will become realities tomorrow.
January — Cool weather. Low crowds after MLK. Marathon Weekend mid-month brings a spike but the rest of the month is calm. EPCOT International Festival of the Arts begins.
February — Cool but pleasant. Crowds moderate. Princess Half and Presidents Day weekend create the only big spikes. EPCOT Flower & Garden Festival begins late month.
March — Spring break peak. Crowds heavy throughout. Prices premium. Flower & Garden Festival in full swing.
April — Easter spike, then sustained spring break crowds. Springtime Surprise weekend mid-month. Prices remain premium.
May — One of our favorite months. Soft crowds, pleasant heat, value pricing. Schools still in session.
June — Summer break begins. Crowds rebuild. Heat and afternoon thunderstorms become daily.
July — Peak heat, peak humidity, peak summer crowds. July 4th week is one of the busiest weeks of the year.
August — Still hot, but crowds soften as schools restart late month. Some of the year's lowest hotel prices for late August.
September — One of the calmest months at Disney. Lowest crowds of the year. Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party begins. EPCOT Food & Wine Festival starts.
October — Pleasant weather, moderate crowds. Halloween parties and EPCOT Food & Wine drive the month. Wine & Dine Half Marathon late month.
November — Best weather of the year before Thanksgiving. Thanksgiving week is one of the heaviest crowd weeks. EPCOT Festival of the Holidays begins.
December — Cool, dry, and crowded. The first two weeks are the magical-but-manageable sweet spot. The week of Christmas through New Year's is the busiest week of the year, period.
